Jessica Velazquez, CPA, CFE.
Jessica is a cannabis and social justice advocate who has spent much of her 20-year career advocating for women and minority business owners. She’s the firm’s main authority on cannabis specific tax matters such as IRC 280E and IRC 471. Jessica also represents clients in federal audit and collection cases. She’s also bilingual and represents Spanish-speaking clients.
Jessica started her own firm in 2014 after gaining experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Zappos and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Jessica earned a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University. She is actively involved in several professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Tax Professionals. In her free time, Jessica loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family. She is also a Jeopardy and NPR junkie.
Ruth Rose, CPA
Ruth’s passion is helping clients develop strategies to minimize tax liability. She is a Certified Tax Coach who works with clients to plan and execute transactions in the most tax-effective manner possible. She uses tools like tax-free exchanges, well-timed asset conversions and tax credits and exemptions to benefit her clients. Ruth has nearly 30 years of public accounting experience and is well versed in helping small, regional firms.
Ruth earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley College and a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maine. Ruth is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Tax Planners. Outside of the office, Ruth is a big Red Sox fan and enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing on the coast of Maine.
Gina Mastromarino, MBA
Gina has served as an accounting/finance executive with extensive experience in the gaming and cannabis industries. She held various accounting/finance leadership roles at several Las Vegas Strip and Downtown casinos as well as other jurisdictions including Colorado, Indiana and Mississippi.
Gina was also a Director of Client Service and Recruiting for RGP, a global consulting firm, where she delivered human capital resources to Fortune 500 clients.
In Gina’s free time she enjoys biking, hiking, camping in her tear drop tailer and hanging out with her puppies!
Laura Durham, CPA
Accounting & Taxation
Laura graduated from Colorado State University in 2001 with a Major in Business Administration, Concentration in Accounting and lives in Loveland, CO. She has specialized in accounting and taxation for cannabis and hemp companies since 2013. Laura is also bilingual and serves Spanish-speaking clients.
Laura has worked in corporate finance roles including audit, international accounting, reconciliations, consolidations, financial statement preparation, fixed assets management, and accounting systems implementations. Outside of work, she is usually spending time with her daughters and significant other. She enjoys animals, gardening and refereeing youth basketball.
John was an application engineer for most of his career. He designed control systems for gas and steam turbine applications, used for power generation and refineries. He is a US Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Midway stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. John transitioned into tax preparation and enjoys the seasonal nature of the business. John lives in beautiful Loveland Colorado with his significant other and her two daughters. In his spare time John plays golf and enjoys rolling around with his dogs.
Julia Kim was born and raised in Korea and moved to the United States in 2013. She graduated University of California- San Diego with a degree in International Economics and a minor in Accounting. Julia is passionate about accounting. She is currently working towards the AICPA exam to be certified in California. In her free time, she likes to spend time listening to music with her dog.
Megan Johnson, CFE
Megan is a forensic accountant with extensive experience in the measurement of financial damages related to vendor fraud, theft and employee embezzlement, inventory loss and damage, business interruption/ lost profit, lost rents, extra expense, property damage, third party and product liability. Megan has more than 20 years’ experience in several sectors including cannabis, gaming, retail operations and banking. Megan earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Leo University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Megan has a passion for research and the investigation of financial crimes. When she’s not working or watching American Greed she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her family.
Alissa is an avid cannabis-endorser, serial organizer, and Food Network lover – in that order. With years of public-accounting administrative experience under her belt, she was delighted (and shocked) to discover a yearning for more accounting and tax knowledge so she decided to pursue a degree in accounting. Finding deep satisfaction in meeting deadline-oriented pressures, Alissa is working toward her goal of becoming a CPA while being the firm’s operational guru! She also supports the administrative team, partners and the overall growth of the firm. Alissa is an advocate for the decriminalization of cannabis and is thrilled to be a part of the canna-movement.
Adriana maintains the firm’s day-to-day office and accounting needs. Adriana has excellent organizational skills, accuracy and more than twenty years’ experience in customer relations.
Coming from a strong background in the medical field for nearly ten years, she specialized in administrative support to clinical staff and served as a clinical benefit and financial budget specialist. She enjoys the world of accounting but was drawn to Indiva Advisors to become a part of the working cannabis movement. As a deep-rooted cannabis advocate, Adriana recognized the medicinal benefits and enjoys being a part of the ever-growing professional cannabis community. Adriana is a Chicago native who enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time.
Kristel lives and works in the Philippines. She is detail-oriented and organized. As administrative assistant, Kristel communicates with the Indiva Advisors team and clients. She is a team player who enjoys spending time with family and friends away from work.
